Vincent T H Chu is known internationally for his achievements in civil engineering. He is a recipient of Ombudsman's Award 2007 and Young Engineer of the Year Award 2008 (Merit) organised by the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. Mr Chu is listed in the 11th Edition of 'Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering'.

 

International recognition for engineering publications.Civil engineering is a profession that places equal emphasis on theoretical and practical knowledge. Most young graduates who have just come out from universities lack practical experience and they often find it difficult to cope with real-life engineering problems. In view of this, Mr Chu aims to provide further education to these young engineers by sharing his books with them, free-of-charge. The books include:

All of which provide useful practical knowledge for engineers. The answers to commonly asked questions from fresh engineers, on the technical aspects of civil engineering practices, provide great assistance to young engineers in their work.

In order to contribute to the engineering profession globally, Mr. Chu proactively liaised with engineering societies, universities, and organisations around the world, and obtained a positive response from them.

 

• 18 national engineering societies around the world offered to post Mr Chu's books on their engineering websites as model engineering books, for free downloading by their members for reference purposes.

• 14 official national engineering societies around the world offered to recommend and send the books to their members.

• 14 engineering organisations and universities around the world offered to post the books on their engineering websites as model engineering books, for free downloading by their members for reference purposes.

• 9 engineering organisations and universities around the world offered to recommend and send the books to their members.

 

To-date, the books have been distributed in Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Mongolia, Singapore, Pakistan, Vietnam, India, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Indonesia), Europe (United Kingdom, Switzerland, Germany, Bulgaria, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Finland, Turkey), America (The United States, Canada, Argentina) and Africa (South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Ghana), and the islands of Barbados and Mauritius.

 

Regular contributions to journals and websites. Mr Chu has written engineering columns in journals and international websites on a regular basis, to share his knowledge and experience with engineers around the world.

 

Establishment of free engineering email service. Mr Chu has also established a free engineering FAQ email service 'Ask Vincent Chu', enabling civil engineers all over the world to raise engineering problems that they are encountering, via email, so that he could respond to them quickly. The European Council of Civil Engineers helped to promote this free email service.

 

 

朱敦瀚 (Vincent T. H. Chu) 是一位香港土木工程師，畢業於喇沙書院和香港大學，國際表揚為『亞洲第一工程師』及『土木百科全書』。

 

1993年8月朱敦瀚 (會考八優一良) 和其他四位同學的優異成績被登於南華早報。

 

2004年朱敦瀚完成第一本著作《實務土木工程問與答二百題》(200 Questions and Answers on Practical Civil Engineering Works)，希望將工程知識免費和年青工程師分享，遂向英國土木工程師學會、日本土木工程師學會和德國工程技術及科技組織自薦。

 

至今，《實務土木工程問與答二百題》獲全球20個國家級土木工程師學會上載至其網站，而60個國際土木工程師組織上載其網站及推介給各國工程師為必讀的工程書籍。

 

2005年10月朱敦瀚為香港工程師學會撰寫工程專攔〈The Civil FAQ〉。

 

2008年他獲得世界工程師學會及歐洲土木工程師協會的支持，成立免費土木工程電郵信箱，解答來自世界各地工程師的工程疑難工程。
