Mr Tom Barett
Construction Manager, MTRC
Tom Barrett is a professional engineer with extensive experience constructing large scale complex mining and underground infrastructure projects in Hong Kong, Malaysia, UK, Ireland and Namibia.
Starting as a mining engineer Tom moved into the tunnelling industry predominantly constructing new rail networks and utilities tunnels. Notably on the MTR West Island Line Project Tom with his team of engineers and the contractor arranged approval for the first production usage of electronic initiation to control Peak Particle Velocity, water ballast to control Air Over Pressure and Dust, 3D programmes for design analysis and what is understood to be the world’s first tunnel dismantling machining. Tom is currently a Constriction Manager for MTRC on the Shatin to Central Link Project not to mention an impassioned engineer and innovator.
