Prof Pascale FUNG 
Professor,
Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST)
 

Pascale Fung is a Professor at the Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering, HKUST and a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE).  She is the founding Director of InterACT at HKUST, a joint research and education center with Carnegie Mellon University, University of Karlsruhe (TH) and Waseda University. She co-founded the Human Language Technology Center (HLTC). She is the founding chair of the Women Faculty Association@HKUST. She was a former researcher at AT&T Bell Labs, BBN Systems & Technologies, and Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) in France. She serves in leadership roles in several professional organizations including the Association for Computational Linguistics and the IEEE Signal Processing Society. She was selected by the LIST Magazine as top 50 Woman of Hope in 2013.  She spoke at and is an invited blogger for the World Economic Forum. Prof. Fung has co-founded a number of companies with her students. Her venture stories have been featured by the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, the Far East Economic Review, among others. .
